Drink driving remains one of the biggest killers

If you have zeal to do something meaningful for the community you live in. Find hard to spare time for it because of the tight work schedule .I have an idea for you which work very well for me. I am sure will be useful for you as well. Use social network site Facebook, Orkut, Tweeter, LinkedIn and Blog.
Express your heart felt feelings and get connected to the world. Strike the right cords of sensitive issues and brings change in and around the world you live in.
It is not that sensitive issues does not exist, just that they are never been payed attention to.

"Drink driving remains one of the biggest killers on roads".

How does alcohol affect driving performance?
Driving is a very complex task which requires complex decision making and total concentration. Alcohol affects a driver’s ability to be totally in control of his or her actions at:
The ability to see or locate moving lights correctly is diminished, as is the ability to judge distances is reduced, sensitivity to red lights is impaired and the ability to respond to several stimuli is decreased.
Euphoria sets in, the tendency to take risks is increased, reactions are slower, and concentration span is shorter. Overestimation of one’s abilities leads to reckless driving; peripheral vision is impaired (resulting in accidents due to hitting vehicles in passing.

Drivers are more likely to have an accident than before they started drinking.

Frustration Hit Cultural Miss@ Shoe Gate

Hate speech and shoe throwing unfortunately have already become a defining moment of campaigning in 2009.Howerver this is in no way a sensible display. There are many other ways to put forward your point, express your dissatisfaction and agony. There is Public Grievance Redressal System. Imitating some foreign imported display of dissatisfaction is a week attempt and a disgrace for our Country.
This might grab the media attention and you can become a part of news and may momentary hurt the ego of the person but will also give opportunity to laugh at by the rest of the world. There is a chain of shoe gate incidents this political season. The four major political leaders to be targeted with the shoes in this election season, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Home Minister P Chidambaram, BJP’s Prime Ministerial Candidate L K Advani and M P Navin Jindal .
This is becoming a trend now to show the protest against the political leaders including the former Us President George W Bush and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao. Throwing a shoe at someone is an insult in India. We, Indians, have some values and Culture in our blood and belong to a country which is appreciated for its rich heritage. It is not a healthy practice to throw shoes on our Leader; rather we should sensibly use the power of vote and select the right deserving member who can bring a positive change in our society. Throwing shoe at the public meetings only reflect our culture and will give bad message to the World. We need to follow the right approach and set good example for the young generation after all they will only follow our footsteps.

Conversation with Dr.Rekha Sheth

Dr. Rekha Sheth is a founder of Cosmetic Dermatologists Society (India).Carry on the legacy of a reputed dermatologist father Dr. Sharath Desai, who was called the international face of Indian Dermatology and it was but obvious for Dr.Sheth to follow her father’s footsteps .She had the opportunity to work closely with celebrities like Mrs. JRD Tata, Raj Kapoor, Mala Sinha who came to visit her father and now of course beauties like Preity Zinta, Dia Mirza, Deepal Shaw are her clients and the list is more. I had an opportunity to speak to the honorable lady at the event where she was a Judge .The event held at the Metropolitan Mall, Gurgaon. This was first of its kind do-Nivea Visage wild card entry into the Pantaloons Femina Miss India2009.According to Dr.Rekha, gone are the days when people were happy with the way they use to look .However now people are becoming more self conscious and everyone wants to look good, not just the celebrity but the common man also want to be noticed and admired about his looks. As per Dr Rekha the beauty is all about healthy skin and healthy hair. However majority of people don’t take care of their skin which then tents to pigment and tan. The major incriminators that ruin our skin are pollution, the ultraviolet rays of the sun, stress and intake to alcohol, smoke, caffeine and improper sleep. However the kind of busy life the modern man leads it’s difficult to take out time for him. Still if there is a will there is a way. Proper intake of water, consumption of fruits, vegetable, vitamins and minerals can help to attain a healthy skin. Not to forget the proper yoga, exercise, summing and dancing can increase your blood circulation and helps to attain a toned body and mind. If you have pimple, tan, wrinkles and fungal infection than you should visit to the right cosmetic dermatologist instead of trying home remedies and visiting local salon. For any further enquiry and to know more about skin and hair

March against Corruption and Terrorism

They say together you can and you will change the world. I could not forget the March 1, 2009 at parliament street road. There was a doubt in my mind will this march be a successful event? Each one of the volunteers put their best foot forward .We looked out for all the possible options and venues where we can meet people and inform them about this event, from Markets ,Malls ,Corporate Office ,Housing Society and Parks etc. Different people different ideologies. Some was appreciating our efforts some were wondering if we have some benefit involved in this task. However for AOL team the campaign was a real fun .On march 1, to my Surprise People started pouring in and that to the “Youngisthan” (mostly the age group of 20-30) had gathered to raise a collective voice against terrorism and corruption. The enthusiasm was mind blowing, everyone was eager to show their love for their country, some were painting their face, some were wearing white T shirt with the slogans like “I love my India” , I India is my Valentine and some were sing patriotic song. Wow! That was a view in itself. Two of our prominent speakers present at that moment had some points to make and share with each one present at that time .Madam Kiran Bedi and Mr. Arvind Kejriwal  requested each of us to pass on to as many people as we could. So here goes…

Madam Bedi’s Message
1) 49 ‘O’ – your right to NO VOTE – Elections are round the corner. This is important and serious info for us all. There is something called article 49 ‘O’, which is a part of the People’s Representation Act, whereby, if a citizen decides that he/she does not find any candidate worth voting for, he has the right to register a “NO VOTE’. For this, you need to go to the presiding officer at your polling booth and ask for the ‘O’ form (as in the alphabet ‘O’). In that, tick ‘none of the above’. What this does is, it registers your vote, so that nobody else can misuse it. It is your duty as a Citizen to put all other plans aside and register your Vote.

2) Tips for lodging a police complaint –

 a) Call 100 and lodge your complaint first. And do not forget to ask for your call entry number, for future reference. If you don’t ask, they will not give it and therefore cannot be held accountable.

b) Lodge your complaint in writing at the relevant police station. Never go to do this alone. Take at least 3-4 people with you, so that there are witnesses in case a police officer tries to deny your visit later.

c) It is your right and their duty to lodge an FIR. Demand it. They will try their best not to do it. Having lodged it, it is mandatory for them to give you an endorsed copy. You must take this.

3) If, try as you may, they do not lodge the FIR, then insist that they enter your complaint in the ‘Roz Namcha’ or Daily Diary. Every police station has one. This again, fixes accountability.

4) It is a must to get your complaint recorded and have proof of it.

Mr. Arvind Kejriwal’s Message
1) The Right To Information Act – This for the first time, puts a real weapon , one that actually works, into the hands of citizens against the crimes of corruption, inaction, delays, apathy etc. at the hands of Govt. officers. Firstly let’s remember that they serve us, and get paid from our tax paid money, not the other way around.

2) Visit www.rti.gov.in to find out how you can file an app demanding clarification through this act, for any grievance related to any Govt. dept/officer. It is mandatory by law, for them, to respond to you within 30 days. If they do not, then the officer responsible has to take a salary cut @ Rs. 250/- a day! And it really works – he gave us examples. They will come begging to you to withdraw your application and your problem will be resolved within 30 days. It works better than bribery.
